Multiple Redesigns (in-progress)
Knit Denise is getting a fresh new Shopify redesign to go right along with the recent Shopify 2.0 update. It’s happening along with another redesign coming out very shortly for a local non-profit: Building Bridges (they’re changing their name and rebranding along with the redesign). Busy time of year! Check out the old sites so you can compare in a few days…
Also, their might be some big news coming. Beside the big news that Textdrive is back from the belly of the whale. More on that later.
Just launched a new artist portfolio blog. Introducing the new KimBoggs.com.
Using Tumblr quite a lot lately. And this is a great example of why. Check out the infinite scrolling, full screen slideshow, and the tag collection links from the navigation.
Think of your portfolio and blog as one, add a contact form and pages, auto-post to facebook + twitter, and start posting over time.
Also a nice option, the Tumblr queue. If you have 14 posts in the queue, publish 2 each day between 3 and 5pm. Smart for weekly updates to the site.
Then, pick a day each week to update your site. During the week, activity will just be happening on your site as well as possible activity on facebook/twitter.
I like Responsive Design. Heck, I LOVE Responsive Design. I think it’s a brilliant methodology, which address true challenges in a very good way. But no matter how fond you are of RWD, I think you have to face the music – RWD makes it very hard to write a fast website.
I’m not saying you can’t write a high performance responsive website. I’m not saying you shouldn’t use RWD (Responsive Web Design) – I would actually recommend it to most organizations. However, RWD makes pages inherently more complicated, and all in all would make the mobile web slower.
Holy moly. Shopify kicks ass. BA21 has been developing e-commerce sites on Shopify almost from their day 1. And our clients continue to be extremely pleased with the fine service with which to sell their products.
Today, I’m excited to announce that our merchants have sold over $1,000,000,000 in products using Shopify. That’s a lot of zeros, and a huge achievement for all of our store owners.
Every day I get so excited when I see all the beautiful online stores that have chosen Shopify as their ecommerce platform. We have over 35,000 active online stores in almost 100 different countries around the world. Since we launched six years ago, over 13 million orders have been processed.
